Conference And Networking Event Strategies

We are heading into the prime season for events, conferences and expo’s. You will want to start thinking about your strategies now, so that you are prepared to make your networking events profitable.

Business Cards

Business cards are easiest way to get your information into the hands of your prospective clients, so you want to make sure that the ones your handing out, represent you in the best possible way and give enough information, that they can easily contact you, after the event.

Some of the key things you will want to add to your business card are:

Name, email and address

Phone number: Cell and Office

Website URL: To make it easier to read capitalize the first letter of each word, so they can easily see your domain name, EXP:

Tagline: be sure to have a great tagline and tells exactly what you do in a sentence or two. This will make it very easy for them know if you are someone they need to contact and why.

Social media profiles: Some people forget to put their social media profiles on a business card, this is very important. You might want to consider also adding a QR code your card, which will take them directly to your FB or LinkedIn account, so they can follow you right away.

Services: A list of 3-5 of your main services on the back of the card can be a powerful way to display exactly what you can offer. You can also add your tagline to the back of the card too.


It’s time to take a look at your website from a visitors prospective. Ask yourself if the home page has enough information on it, to make prospective clients want to navigate further and know exactly what it is you do and can offer them. It should be neatly laid out, without clutter. You don’t need to have all of the information your site contains on the Home page, too much clutter will make visitors frustrated and they will just move on to another company.

Pick the top 3 things you want your visitors to know about your company and display these in a neat order on your website, with clear ways for them to learn more.

If you have an important event coming up or a coaching/training program or a new book launch, you want to highlight this on your Home page, alone with a few of your most popular services.  You may want to consider having a landing page for your event and training too, that you can easily send people to. As always you should have a capture form on your sidebar and a free offer. Finally be sure that you have clear details on how they get in contact with you.


Brochures, one sheets and swag are great ways to get more information about you and your company out to your prospective clients. These can hold a lot more information than a business card and can also be used to promote an upcoming event, coaching/training program, or book launch.

As far as swag, something nice that you know other like-minded professionals will actually use, are best. Some of the more crazy cheese items, may get attention, but don’t always help people remember who you are, or what you do. I prefer things like pens, note pads, calendars, mouse pads and other office and desk type supplies. These are things that they will take home and keep on their desk, so they will see your company name each day, as they are working. One the best things I got from an event, was a nice drink coaster, which I still have on my desk, with a companies name and contact information on it and I have contacted this company for their services.
